A bit of a tricky question here. The versions with/without Hyper-V are there in case people want a server that doesn't have any beta bits.

Does Windows Server 2008 have a kernel that's optimized for virtualization? I am trying to find out the difference between the versions in TechNet, with/with-out Hyper-v? If Server 2008 has the optimizations, are they always available in both versions or just the Hyper-v version?
