maybe look up master browse storm. or something along those lines. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rankin, James R To: NT System Admin Issues Sent: Monday, April 21, 2008 9:46 AM Subject: RE: Computer Browser service
I remember ScriptLogic needing the server in the browse list when you added a DC (a nightmare involving lots of use of browstat, exe when building a new NT4 DC) but I assume they got past that limitation somehow. After that, I've never had any need for the browser service to function correctly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: David Lum [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 21 April 2008 14:41 To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Computer Browser service Does anyone here leave the computer browser service on for workstations and member servers? I don't for my personal business' clients, but my day job requires solid documentation on why we should turn off the browser service via GPO. I've already read this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/188001 Any other links or suggestions would be helpful.
