PostgreSQL is awesome. However, keep in mind this caveat:
Quite a lot of open-source software thinks the only SQL DB engine in existence is MySQL. Simply from a pragmatic POV MySQL is the better tool to learn, even though MySQL is a tonka toy in comparison to other "free" (open source and otherwise) SQL database engines. Other "free" DB engines: * MSDE/SQL Server Express * DB2 (http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/db2/express/) * Oracle (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/xe/index.html) * PostgreSQL * Firebird (formerly interbase) Kurt Buff wrote: > However, I'd strongly consider going with PostgreSQL instead, as it's > more robust and scalable, and a bit less quirky. -- Phil Brutsche [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ Upgrade to Next Generation Antispam/Antivirus with Ninja! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbelt-software.com/SunbeltMessagingNinja.cfm> ~
