Just to add to what you have found out you if you have any problems with any of the 2006/7/8 products then record the key and do a full uninstall. Then install the latest 2008 product and put the key back in. I have been carrying a 15 day trial around on a data stick for months. NIS081550 is the version I use. I know that IE7 breaks the management interface in NIS 06/07 to the point that if a change is needed it won't commit, so the answer is the upgrade.

I called Norton, was told the wait would be 30 minutes so I got on the web site. Opened a chat session with their support. Gave the info was told it would be fixed. Was given a product code and a program to run . Ran the program and it was the latest Norton security suite install. Strike one. Check the activation code I was given and guess what, it was the same code I already have. Strike two. Found a FAQ that said if you get a new computer to uninstall from old computer and it should re-install and activate on the new computer. I hooked up all 4 of the old computers, to the net, used the Norton uninstalled to remove. Tried activation the last of the new computers and it sill wont activate. Strike three. I'm going to wait till Monday and try the activation one more time as maybe there is some delay in the Norton activation system. If that don't work, guess I'll have to call them again. Thanks for all the advice and everyone have a great weekend. Unless you registered a norton account and uninstall the machine.Should ask Sym support GuidoElia HELPPC ________________________________ Da: Glen Johnson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Inviato: venerdì 2 maggio 2008 16.10 A: NT System Admin Issues Oggetto: RE: Norton AV Guess I should have been a bit clearer. The 4 new computers are to replace 4 of the original 5 so when it's all done, they will only have the AV on 5 computers as the license allows. I'm just wondering how to transfer the license? I'm going to try uninstalling one of the old ones and see if that will let the new one activate. If not, I'll call Norton and hear what they have to say. We have a unit that bought a 5 station license for Norton 2008. It's been installed on their 5 computers for a couple of months. They just got 4 new computers and when I installed Norton, it installed and activated on 3 of the 4 new boxes. 4th try and activation failed. Not surprising. Anyway, my question is, am I going to have to call Norton to get this resolved or can I fire up one of the old computers, uninstall Norton? Will uninstalling Norton free up the license count so that the last machine can be activated? Thanks.
