I have an older Dell with OEM Windows 2003 Standard Server on it. Separately I have a volume license where I bought 10 copies of Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise. I tried to P2V the Dell and all went well until activation came up (there were many problems and I couldn't activate). It is my understanding that that OEM license is not transferrable to any other machine. Should my volume licenses cover that licensing? If so, is there any way to change the OEM license key on the older Dell before P2V'ing it so I won't have to deal with re-activation?
