I downloaded XP SP 3 a while ago and started installing it on a couple of
computers. it did not say beta on it anywhere, if it did I would not of
installed it.

now my remote desktop is saying it is expired and i need to download a copy
from Microsoft.

#1, where is the remote desktop software that will over write the expired
version?
#2, where is the real XPSP3? all i find is the overview file.

I have been trying to research exactly what the problem was with service
pack 3.

I know the press states that the Microsoft Retail Package breaks with the
service pack, but what exactly is/was the problem.

I found one reference somewhere that the problem was with SQL and querying
multiple tables. If this is truly the problem, fixing the Microsoft Retail
Package will not fix the underlaying problem. I use SQL quite a lot and
query multiple tables quite often.

Does anyone have a reference (URL) to the underlaying problem with the
Windows XP SP3 issue?

Thanks,

The real problem is that IP, a connectionless protocol, was never developed
to be the universal protocol. ATM was developed to serve that purpose and
failed.
