Hi chaps, I'm after recommendation of how best to record and assess licensing of the main MS products (OS, office etc). Tracking and discovery is fine, we use N-Central here so I can easily find out what's in use. It's the other side of the coin I'm interested in, compiling a list of what licenses are available within the company, which are in use, and as a result which are left available for future use.
Googling just seems to reveal lots of tools to find out what apps are installed, which I can already do. What I'm after is perhaps a methodology rather than an application, that when applied will allow me to find the licenses owned (ie I'm assuming asking accounts for a list of computers and software purchased) and then recording the available licenses, cross linking them to what N-Central says is in use, and determining the spare licenses available. Does that make sense? If so, how best can I do that without just using Excel ?
