How many concurrent users will this grow to? You are quite likely looking at a multi-server Citrix farm to support 1000 users, even if only 10% are online at one.
Is the line-of-business app web-enabled? If so, you could funnel all the access through a simpler, less expensive, method such as an SSL VPN. Also, don't forget to factor in the licensing costs if these are users not presently licensed. Since this is something new with them we are guessing at numbers right now. The initial guess is to start with one server and do the testing and expand from there. I think if it really does what they hope it will make it easier for them to afford the expansion. Thus the initial testing proof of concept. I forgot about the ISP failover. Currently there is a single connection terminated at the ISA 2004 box. Adds another line item to cost estimates for future expansion. Thanks.
