MY question would be, what is being stored on these laptops that encryption is needed. I use TrueCrypt and a Vault on my Laptop for sensitive items, but usually I keep it all on the internal network. The other thing I would look to push is destructable USB Sticks from Ironkey, nice concept and tell them to store there information on that instead on a Laptop where they may or maynot remember to put it in a encrypted drive.
I still don't see a policy they have told you of why this is supposed to be implemented, if there isn't some sanctions on its use that you can tie to your users, to include a data breach causing them to get fired, it might be a fruitless waste of time. Technology doesn't always solve People problems, which it seems that whomever is asking you of this, isn't telling you the end in mind. Z Edward E. I like the self destruct capability of the newest encryption schemes with USB memory sticks I would like to see the same thing in regular drives that offer Full Disk Encryption. Z Edward E. I'm guessing someone here has already gone though this and would love to have some points to consider.
