except for the need to back up open (locked) files, I'd schedule a Robocopy
or Xcopy incremental, starting with a full on Friday (so that any lengthy
copy is not interrupted by user needs the next morning. (guessing 400gb
might take a while to copy/backup) , and then incremental from that full on
Monday thru Thursday for quick comprehensive backup of all files that
changed since the full. Hopefully the user won't always have the same
file(s) open

Subject: A desktop backup solution that works.

Afternoon all.

I have a need to backup an XP desktop which has about 400GB of data to a NAS
on a nightly basis.

I need to be able to backup locked files as the user does not log out.

We’ve been using Symantec BESR, but it ALWAYS shows an error for one reason
or another including the fact that the pagefile drive (dedicated partition)
is not being backed up.

What do you guys recommend for use on a single, standalone, non-AD machine?

Dave
