Im using wansync for a couple of smaller clients, and also Symantec
Netbackup for a 5 server set that allows me to restore to a vm box in the
remote location.

Both seem to work, wansync is pretty cool, but its not a true server
replication, so things like users, new mailboxes, new software, windows
updates are not done on both sides. You have to kind of manage both boxes
and then let wansync do the files and such. To get around that I have been
doing ntbackup with the system state and then file sync that over. However,
when my client has a software update for their app or something we have to
install it in both locations to ensure the registry is right. I played with
the registry functions of wansync, but support and forums are really lacking
you are kind of on your own.

Subject: VMWare in DR site

Hi,

Our client wants to have a DR site.

In the primary site, all servers are in physical box. There is no
virtualization in place. In the DR site, they wanted all the DR servers to
be in a virtual environment. May I know for guys have implemented this, do
you mind sharing your experience and what to look out for?

So far what I can think of is using software like CA XOSoft or Double Take
to do a host to host replication to the DR site. Is there a better way to do
it?

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Wei Yu
