We went from OpenBSD to monowall to pfsense (a bridge off of monowall) and love 
pfsense.

I'm quite happy with our Secure Computing Sidewinders. They rock.

If I were to go Open Source, I'd consider using FreeBSD running PF and
OpenVPN. Unfortunately, SSLExplorer went commercial after being GPL,
so I consider it abandonware, though the source is available on
sourceforge.
