Subject: XP over Fedora
I goof around with fedora and we had a dell box running it for awhile with dans
guardian and some other stuff. So now we want to put XP back on it, and when it
goes to boot from the cd the system just locks up. I tried my BartPE disc and
the same thing, if I unplug the hard drive then I can boot but of course cant
do anything. I guess I could go make a quick floppy fdisk but wanted to know if
anyones seen that.
I know the system locks up because as soon as it goes Windows is Inspecting
your Computer. ... the screen will turn black and if you hit power it goes off
immediately (not like holding it down for 5-10sec) so the system is in some
weird state.
Anyone know a workaround for future reference? Someone said the drive may be
locked? but I still fail to see how that would stop Windows from running its
startup process off the cd's
