Not sure how this works with OEM, but for downgrade don't you have to get the 2003 key from MS - you can't just plug in the 2008 key for a 2003 server, can you? I know with open licenses you get a separate key for the older OS if you wish to use your downgrade rights...

Hi, Yes, its an inactivated install with the wrong key effectively. I have an OEM 2008 standard server key that I want to use for it (2008 keys have downgrade rights) - but it wont let me do it. Luckily he didnt activate the install. I have now kicked him around the car park, and I have purchased a 2008 server standard key, to change the old key to the new one. I know this has been covered before but the new key wont be acepted, I have been clickin the activate/ phone customer support/ enter new key - but it just says invalid key. Is this because he used Action Pack media? Can I get round this without having to reinstall the server?
