The images will "boot" far enough to blue screen with STOP code 0x7B (aka INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE). If you can get the storage drivers squared away they'll most definitely boot - I know this 'cause I have a "universal" XP SP3 ghost image that will Just Work (except for things like audio) on the machines in question.
