Hey list. So, we're looking for something that can help us with hardware/software audit. We started looking at the KACE solution, but were completely blown away by the price. (We're a school with an already cut budget... and they were asking for nearly my annual salary!)
We've tried Spiceworks, which is a great product, but it is unable to handle our 1000 PC/MAC node network. It could not correctly identify all our hardware systems reliably. Perhaps I should give it another try, since the last attempt I made was with Spiceworks 2.0? So I'm curious on what others on this list have used. Needs: I need to have a agent or agentless method of identifying computers. Computer names, Computer models and serial numbers, and basic Hardware info (CPU speed, memory, MAC addresses, etc). All of this I need to be able to search for. Wants: I would like something that can also hit our Macintosh machines. Price is a consern, but we're willing to buy a solution if the price isn't too high. Icing: Software deployment/Patch management. Any suggestions would be welcome. --Matt Ross ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~
