Good question. Last year I finally upgraded my core to a Cisco 6509 and actually got approval for a redundant one this year. I just jumped on that budget approval and got delivery of my second core switch. There was no way I was going to wait any further into this economic mess and try and convince someone later this/next year that I need this. As Shook says if there is a business need it actually will get considered and purchased.

You're all the admins who actually buy the stuff that people like Sunbelt (and many, many others make). How are you seeing the recession impact your buying decisions? Are you being told to hold off until "later"? Is it business as usual? Or is it a bloodletting? Are you still buying cheap stuff but not buying expensive stuff? Etc., etc. Maybe I'm opening the Pandora's Box here, but I think we need to all look at the situation realistically.
