In August it only got the minimal passing grade at www.av-comparatives.org,
but it's done better in the past. Maybe they had a bad month?

Small offices and single-person offices, churches, etc., would all be happy
to use a free AV program. Probably some of them use AOL's or their ISP's
freely downloadable solutions already.

But I would think the product would lack any centralized management or
reporting. Still, for a small office environment it may be sufficient for
desktop protection.

How does OneCare compare to other desktop a/v solutions?

Cliff notes: MS will discontinue Windows Live OneCare and offer a free
product that just does antivirus/antispyware (OneCare did a few other things
not related to malware protection).

This will not affect Forefront, which has had "strong growth".

It doesn't seem that there will be any business restrictions on use of this
product. If not limited to home/private-consumer use, it will likely pull
the rug out from under the other AV companies in the SB market.
