We had the same situation, so I created a new OU and put a 1 hour screen saver
lock out using GPOs. This seems long enough and I can move people in and out as
needed.

I'm leaning in that direction, but it would be easier on my users if they could
use their regular accounts.

Windows Media Player disables the screen saver when playing DVDs so that it
doesn't pop up in the middle of a movie. So it seems to me that a mechanism
exists to do this. It's just a matter of getting PowerPoint to behave the same
way...

I created a special user account for using PP that has no screensaver
timeout or lock. It's also locked down from using network resources since
the computer could be left and an untrusted person could then sit down at
it.

An Earth-shattering suggestion. Truly.

;-)

Mea culpa for not specifying that users can't change their screen saver
settings because Group Policy locks that down per requirements from the
Auditor General's office.

Temporarily change your screen saver time delay via the control panel.

Does anyone have a trick for preventing the screen saver from kicking in
during a PowerPoint presentation? It seems like this should be possible in
theory, since other apps (Media Player comes to mind) can block the screen
saver...
