  Be warned, parallel port dongles and USB adapters don't always play
nice.  Much of that sort of software expects to talk to a genuine
IBM-PC parallel port, which was basically just an extension of the ISA
bus.  You could twiddle lines however you liked, even if it was
nothing like IEEE-1294.  USB adapters don't always support the kind of
ab(use) they want.
