As a late addition, if you merge all the zip files from the spanned volumes (copy \disk1\archive.zip + \disk2\archive.zip total.zip /i) you can use PKzipfix to repair it and you should have 1 large working ZIP. Regards,

The ZIP central directory structure is kept in the last file, so a lot of programs will have heart-burn. I recall PKZIPFIX.EXE (from the original PKZIP suite for MS-DOS) could recover contents from a partial archive. You might want to see if their latest-and-greatest has similar functionality.
