I always have issues with laptops that have a pointer stick dead center
of the keys. I type fast and my fingers usually never really lift up
far from the tops of keys so I always end up touching the "eraser" point
and mucking up whatever I'm typing. Most of the time I use a USB mouse
and disable the pointer and/or touchpad.

I went through a similar issue with my GF, it turns out her dangling
bracelet was hitting the touchpad from time to time and doing odd
things.
