Thanks! The .NET 1.1 installer was an .EXE file, so I was able to open it with "Run as...".
In the mean time, I (finally figured out that) could open the command console as an administrator, then open the GPMC.MSI in that. I should have it all now. Thanks again! -- Richard D.
