You can always e-file your return early, and then send your payment along
with the voucher by April 15th.  I didn't plan well enough and ended up
owing about $1,500, which is better than getting a refund, but still
anoying, since I'm an accountant, too.  As long as the payment is postmarked
the 15th, you're golden.

We e-filed February 1st, the day after I got my W-2, and I completed my
small S-corp return.  File now pay later.

Oh, and for Kurt, if you're crunched for time, it's not going to be a big
deal in your case if you file late, without an extension.  IF the IRS owes
you money, they could care less if you file late! :-)
