System manufactures usually lag behind the component OEMs in their
driver releases. In the case of Dell, I know, often *way* behind. I
usually go for OEM drivers when possible. Not only are they newer,
they sometimes have other benefits. Sometimes the drivers from system
mfg are limited to only work with particular models, while OEM drivers
work with everything, so I need to manage fewer drivers. Sometimes
the system mfg has extra stuff I don't really want anyway. Other
times the OEM drivers expose more useful functionality. So I get
drivers from NVidia, ATI, Intel, Broadcom, etc., and integrate them
into our RIS image. It's served us well so far. Knock on wood.
