A guy here just got a Dell XPS laptop which he plugs in a second external monitor using a HDMI-to-DVI cable, and Vista automatically spans onto it. Not a docking station, he just sits the monitor side-by-side. Could be a function of the graphics hardware - it is NVidia. Two others have docking stations for their Lenovo and HP laptops which you can plug two monitors into. Intel GMA 965 in one, I think, and a FireGL in the other. My research on the Dell Docking stations is that they disable the laptop display connection or the laptop monitor, stil leaving only two monitors. Talking with my rep in my last round of buys, the E6500 does allow for three monitors, with their docking station. I may trial it on the next equipment purchase, next year is the biggest one in our cycle.
