Amazing how much the Craptacular code of some developers ends up being our PITA's..., now was it Shockware update and/or MSN or a combo of the two that caused the issue.

Possible Solution +1 ... same IE and shockwave versions on my XP as yesterday, and after launching to MSN.com cpu normalized back down around 2 to 5% instead of over 50% like yesterday ... guessing somebody's sloppy code pointing to somebody's sloppy widget was removed Erik Goldoff IT Consultant Systems, Networks, & Security ________________________________ From: James Rankin [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, June 17, 2009 4:39 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Re: www.msn.com just brought my citrix servers to a screeching hault! Possible Solution I can testify I am seeing no issues on my Citrix servers this morning...a little spike to start with then everything as normal. However I am on version 9 in production 2009/6/17 Ziots, Edward <[email protected]> When I checked it this morning, the % utilization was less than 5%. Also Shockware popped up that an update was available, I downloaded, but it still read the same version, 10.0.22.87. Anyone seeing the same ? Possible Solution Ok. I just upgraded to Flash 10,0,22,87 in IE8 (ActiveX) in Windows XP Pro. Going to MSN.com results in IE using about 30% of the CPU. -----Original Message----- From: Ben Scott [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 2:18 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Re: www.msn.com just brought my citrix servers to a screeching hault! Find the file (it's prolly in WINDOWS\System32\) and bring up Properties from Windows Explorer. The "Version" tab. You can check the version of Flash in general by going to the following URL and looking in the "Version Information" box in the upper right of the page main body. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ Checked by AVG - www.avg.com Version: 8.5.374 / Virus Database: 270.12.73/2180 - Release Date: 06/16/09 07:41:00 ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~
