To my knowledge, there ist a 64bit version of ESXi per say, s just
ESXi.
But, with the right hardware (aka modern CPU) and the correct BIOS settings, it
will be able to run both 32and 64 bit guests at the same time.

As far as backing up the VMs, once is running, s just a Windows box,
so your BackupExec agents will work fine.

Subject: VMware newbie

Hello al

We are in the early stages of planning to consolidate some W2K3 servers on some
beefy hardware. We are going to use VMware (ESXI to begin with) as other
corporate offices use it and is kind of mandated.

I have a couple of questionIf I install the 64 bit version of ESXI on bare
metal, can W2K3 32 bit servers run on it? When it comes to backing up the
guests using BUE 12.0, can I use my Windows Server agents or do I need
something else? Ive spent too many hours on hold with Symantec for an
answer.

Thanks in advance for any advice/help.
