Never tried ZamZar been using Able2Extract PRO

+1 for Zamzar, I've used the site several times with surprisingly good
results.  As you mentioned however, if the original file is just an
image wrapped in a pdf file, what you will get back is an image wrapped
in a word file - still not able to be edited.  And if you are going to
OCR it anyway, most OCR software will put output to Word or Rich Text
Format.

www.zamzar.com is your friend. J They can convert your PDF to a DOC file
just fine and it's free, although you get quicker conversion and larger
files if you pay for it. J

There's a ton out there but I guess there's a difference based on if the
pdf is searchable or not.  If it's not then I assume the cheaper
converters won't work and you'll need to OCR it anyway?
