No heat? maybe for the 5mm LEDs. I have a few high power LED flashlights
that get quite a bit hot... The Fenix P1 (Luxeon 3 iirc?) gets almost
uncomfortable to hold after 10 minutes or so.

Shame, as in my not so humble opinion, the CF bulbs don't live up to hype (
literally ) ... I've had CF's 'burn out' within a year or two, and not the 5
+ years their packaging claimed ... And they don't work well in a cold
environment ( garage, cold bathroom in the winter, etc as they take a while
to get to proper brightness .. I want to flip the switch and have LIGHT !!!

Hopefully the cost of distribution and manufacture will be worked out a few
years to replace CF bulbs with household LED .. They're even more energy
efficient, almost no heat at all, and much better longevity ...

If you want to keep using incandescents, you need to stock up. Already
illegal in the EU, going to be illegal in the US in 3 years or so:

  December 19, 2007

The incandescent light bulb, one of the most venerable inventions of its

era but deemed too inefficient for our own, will be phased off the U.S.
market beginning in 2012 under the new energy law just approved by
    Congress.
