+1 I do this all the time. The Key on the box generally works fine, though I have had to call in once or twice. Still works fine. Just use an generic OEM CD.

In my experience you can use any OEM media you have to reinstall a machine. You use the product key on the side of the machine for activation. IIRC Microsoft does sell media kits, they'll be in the $20 to $25 range.
