That is correct. Although the TechNet and MSDN setups should not require a key 
during install either. It is all about the key you enter after install (or 
during install if you are using WIM files and MDT2010) for activation. If you 
have a volume license of any type you will have your volume MAK/KMS keys to use 
for activation which Microsoft then tracks for number of licenses in use.

Don't you get a "special" key to use for software licensed through eOpen? With 
software downloaded through MVLS, it does not ask for a key during the install, 
but you do have to enter one after the install is complete to make it 
"genuine". I believe it will start to prompt you for it after 3 days.

  Interesting.  For Vista images obtained through eOpen for an "Open Business" 
agreement, I've found that the installer refuses OEM Product Keys.  I assumed 
I'd have trouble if I did the install without a Product Key and then tried to 
enter it post-install.
