I agree on the smaller screen - have a Lenovo with 12" screen which is fine and very easy to lug. Have a Dell with a 15" screen for personal use, it's bulky and not what I like to carry around. Like the larger drive cause you always use the space. Battery life is a plus too if you're going to be using it without AC. Price tags around 600 - 800 for these types.

But it was just over $1000 stock so it doesn't meet your budget ... The 12" screen makes it MUCH more portable (and lighter) than a 15" laptop It even travels in my motorcycle saddlebag without issue and 12" is big enough for normal business use ( the netbook little screens take a LOT of scrolling ) Erik Goldoff IT Consultant Systems, Networks, & Security -----Original Message----- From: Joseph L. I will need to dual boot between windows and nix and as far as work goes, it will only need to allow ssh/rdp over OpenVPN so no issues I can imagine. The rest leaves personal use. If I was only going to spend ~600-800 bucks, what would you guys get? I only look after a few laptops at work so I really have no idea what the market offers or who makes good ones! ~15" screen for portability is primary.
