There's usually some number you can dial that will have the local phone switch read back the number to you. But it won't necessarily be the same from one switch to another. For our lines at %WORK%, dial 260, and the CO switch reads back the 7 digit number. There will also usually be numbers to dial for silent termination, steady tone, ring back, etc. All for testing purposes.
