I have a server that logs in to a non-admin user to run a specific software (which for some reason the vendor does not make into a service). It is in the server room, which is locked. So the only risk is if someone were to get in that room
By the way, I have tried to use the various tools to make this software run a service, but it won't work that way. So an autologon is the only way at this point. Do you guys have any servers that automatically log into the console session at boot-up? We have a phone reporting server (Win2K Server) with old software that won't run unless someone is logged in at the console. I'd like to make it auto-login with a local (non-domain) account but I want to keep myself and the security team satisfied that I'm not creating an undue security risk. Anyone have a similar situation, and if so how do you handle it?
