Although I have a good idea what I want when I'm getting quotes, I'm always
open to suggestions from vendors.

Curious. We are getting a new HP DL server, and just figured go straight
through HP, using their web configurator. What's advantageous of going through
an external rep? We're not high volume at all for servers, trying to
virtualize and get the powered-on server count in the rack down to 2, leaving
the other three dark for backup/spare.

I'm gonna get flamed for this, but used to have a rep at CDW that was pretty
good at getting quotes coordinated with HP to my requirements .. Nick Bundy was
his name, but been a few years since that was for a job I left in 2006 ...

oops, looking for his contact info, I see he's now at ParagonMicro :

You could also try Craig Wade at Atlantix Global, although he may be on the
refurbished side, they were a subsidiary of SolarCom

Ive been tasked to put together a 2nd proposal for HP equipment instead of
Dell, the quote from Dell is about 125k. The CFO likes HP’s but I don’t have
any contacts.. any recommendations for a decent rep appreciated.
