Hi all,
Hardware RAID is definitely better for performance reasons, but Windows
server software RAID works fine and is better than no redundancy whatsoever.
If one disk does fail, it does offer continuity. I happily use this for
domain controllers in small domains with limited budget.

It depends on the intended role of the server. If it will take serious
usage, buy a RAID controller.

Good luck!
