My two cents on outsourcing. Yes, I've been proximal to it. No, it did not affect me directly at that job. But I have strong feelings about it. While it might provide a better initial bottom line for a company, the hell that customers go through and lack of productivity as a result make it a negative. Of course, it doesn't show up on the books that way because no one correlates the lack of sales or productivity to the outsourcing. I have changed vendors in numerous situations to avoid the usual outsourced support fiascos. The millions of $$ I've redirected don't show up on the company's books as lost revenue. But that's a bunch of money they don't get out of me any more. Also, what it does to the local/national economy is disastrous. My view is that any company that outsources jobs that have previously been done by US workers should be penalized severely. Make it hurt. Companies that lay off a bunch of workers and outsource the jobs somewhere else to make bigger profits, then go crying to the government that they need bailouts make me sick.
That's my opinion. Not trying to change anyone's mind, just tossing it out there. *********************** Charlie Kaiser [email protected] Kingman, AZ *********************** ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~
