Well, at an ISP I used to work for, we used some Cisco wireless gear and managed to send a signal to a customer a couple miles away. Before that, we used Microwave STL transceivers. 'Course those had to have FCC licenses. The Cisco stuff was good 'cause it didn't require a license. It worked pretty good until someone put a billboard up in the middle of the LOS. :-)
