More info on this....

When I went to the site all it was asking was my first and last name,
followed by my SSN. According to the recruiter, they 'match up', or store,
my name and use the SSN to validate that I am who I say that I am. Nothing
on that site, or from the recuiter, states that they need the SSN to do a
background check. I even sent an email to that sites 'helpdesk' and asked
them about the security, or lack thereof, and have not heard a response, as
of yet.

I don't like the idea of sending SSN's, or anything else pertinent, across
the Net unless I know it is secured. Two years ago, I had to clear my credit
record because of Identity Theft. Someone in Naples, FL, used my SSN and a
past address and passed themselves off as me. When I went to investigate
these charges I had to sign some affidavits to the effect that I was not the
one who incurred these charges. I went through the ringer on this and I
don't want to have to go through that again.
