Yeah... I'm thinking of using the HP Restore tool. There's an option to re-image the computer from the boot menu (F11) and I'm thinking that may be the best thing. The user's had the computer for less than 2 weeks and now I can't even create my own account to use to work on it. Whenever I try to log into my account on that computer, it just sits there at "customizing..." :-(
I just sent the user an email here at work advising that if Malware Bytes doesn't find anything, he may be out of luck. :-( -----Original Message----- From: Angus Scott-Fleming [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, February 04, 2010 1:01 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Re: Windows 7 problem (Home user) On 3 Feb 2010 at 8:48, John Aldrich wrote: > I am working on a computer for one of my users. Of course, if the user didn't make backup media, you may not be able to :-(, not sure how HP's Win7 restore procedure works. HP's WinXP restore procedure re-partitions the C: drive to one large partition and installs the OS from scratch, which is why I suggested backing up. I would probably use BartPE and an external USB drive to back up the current system before proceeding. -- Angus Scott-Fleming GeoApps, Tucson, Arizona 1-520-290-5038 +-----------------------------------+ ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~
