Uh, it's a rather simplistic take on the problem:
Quotes:
"One aspect of computing infrastructures that can be
decoupled from network, desktop and server platforms
is security"
and
"In other words, in their quest to dominate as much of
corporate computing budgets as possible, Microsoft
has created a world wide security problem that entails
investment, lost time, management, compliance and
reporting requirements to control."
Seriously? I want some of the drugs these guys are on.
Security cannot be decoupled from the platform. Saying that reveals a
lack of understanding of security in particular and IT in general.
I often rail against MSFT, but their quest for market dominance is not
the issue. The issue isn't really even the "monoculture". The issue is
multifarious, including the facts that people are stupid, computers
are complex, networks of computers are even more complex, and MSFT
doesn't seem to be able to do security very well, though that's
improving.
I'll pass on the rest of the report.
