(You didn't indicate any requirements other than long battery life, durability for screen opening and isn't heavy, and the iPad does meat these requirements.) If you have security concerns, some sort of Windows Terminal client might be sutiable for your application. You can also add a dock and keyboard to the exam rooms to satisfy charging and more challenging data entry requirements.
