Frequency of failure is only one part of the equation. Severity of outage, cost of downtime, time to recovery, availability of parts out of warranty, redundancy of the equipment in question, number of spare parts on hand -- these are just some of the other considerations that should be factored into whether or not one gets a maintenance contract, and what level of service one obtains.
