How are the contacts stored in MS Word?

Are are just talking a big Word table? If so, if you can convert to CSV
(Comma Separated Value), Outlook can import that. In Word, delete any
extraneous text, formatting, header/footer, etc. Then convert the table to
text, separating columns with commas and rows with paragraph breaks. Then save
as plain text. Rename the .TXT to .CSV and point Outlook at that.
