Knowing that we're straying off subject, but I get ticked with these
"extended warranties" they're always pushing.  If the product was built
worth a darn and the company stood behind their products, you wouldn't
need them. It seems like you're buying insurance in case they put out a
lemon that lasts one day past the warranty.

I have an LG fridge that was giving us some trouble...  I called their
help line.  I kid you not, they wanted a CC # before they would refer me
to an authorized service technician.  I said I would not give it, and
unless they gave me a number I would call our AG consumer protection
office and start a process with them.  

 

The company they referred me to gave me a couple of free suggestions to
try and to their credit, it worked.  Nedless to say, any further calls
will go to the company that gave me some pretty good advice and saved me
some $$ than a company that tried to extort me.

When you power up, does the drive spin ?  Or are you 'registering' the
physical drive only through the electronics ?

I need to try and recover a corrupt drive.  Is Ontrack EasyRecovery
still the tool of choice on the list?

 

Any other suggestions?  (I pulled the drive and put it in an external
housing.  The drive registers as a drive, but shows no contents.  It was
not formatted.  The PC had a BSOD, then would not boot.)
