In your terminal emulator, such as HyperTerminal, use the following
settings:

   - Baud rate (or bits per second): 9600
   - Date bits: 8
   - Parity: None
   - Stop bits: 1
   - Flow Control: None

You also need to be sure your terminal emulator sends a carriage return and
line feed at the end of each line that is entered. In HyperTerminal, this
setting is located under "Properties" then "Settings" then "ASCII Setup",
where you need to select "Send line ends with line feeds" under "ASCII
Sending".
