It used be called TapeWare. Also sold re-badged as NovaNet. A few major revisions and several years ago, I used to recommend it, as it was much cheaper than Backup Exec but also had some unique capabilities. I'm no longer in that job and I haven't really kept up with either product, so my experience is outdated. That said: It could run on Windows, NetWare (told you my experience was outdated!), and Linux. Had agents for Exchange, MS-SQL, others. Had a full user account system and centralized database years before Backup Exec even considered the concept. It treated everything as an object in the same tree, which was a little different but made sense. Made it easier, e.g., to see which backup dates were available for a given file. Ran it on some small sites, and one shop that had a 14 tape changer. No significant trouble at most sites. Had trouble with the changer but support helped us out. Quality of support was okay; wasn't the best I've ever had but wasn't bad. -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
