Dude.

Many of the "comments" in this list are often:

1) Suggestions that will get your ass out of a sling in the future

2) Ideas you can tuck away for future implementation

3) Damn good best practices

4) An indication that your initial post was rather incomplete and
left us with no evidence you had done your due diligence and thus left
us with no choice but to assume you were as clueless about
implementation as you were to posting to mailing lists.

Now maybe _YOU_ get your panties in a wad when somebody points out an
issue that you might be able to rectify PRIOR to it becoming a problem.
The rest of us have thicker skin and recognize the value therein.

So... chill.

Anyway, tested backups thoroughly, and after we upgraded from 12.5 to
2010 R2 it takes half the time to back up the same data. If you're so
worried about what I have to say then go test and prove me wrong. Until
then, why are you even commenting?

MongoDB is web-scale.

It's as fast as backing up your transactions to /dev/null.

Anytime I hear that a backup application is "twice as fast" - I want to
know where the bits are going.

That's not cynicism. It's professional skepticism.

If you haven't tested a restore, you don't know HOW it's worked so far.

It's twice as fast as BE 12.5. Havent tested a restore yet but it's
worked perfectly so far.

Anyone using backup exec 2010 r2 with VMWare agent?

Are you backing up esxi versions?

If so what are your feelings?
