Wow, I guess it’s true …

No good deed ever goes unpunished.

The expressed skepticism *could* prompt you to test a restore *BEFORE* it
possibly proves to be a critical failure to VERIFY that the restore
function works as you expect.

I have in the past seen folks lose their jobs from inability to perform a
restore within claimed timeframes for failure to test prior to critical
needs, where exceeding the planned and communicated restore window had a
major negative impact on business operations.

What exactly is your reason for participating in this listserv ?

Anyway, tested backups thoroughly, and after we upgraded from 12.5 to 2010
R2 it takes half the time to back up the same data. If you’re so worried
about what I have to say then go test and prove me wrong. Until then, why
are you even commenting?

MongoDB is web-scale.

It’s as fast as backing up your transactions to /dev/null.

Anytime I hear that a backup application is “twice as fast” - I want to
know where the bits are going.

That's not cynicism. It's professional skepticism.

If you haven’t tested a restore, you don’t know HOW it’s worked so far.

It’s twice as fast as BE 12.5. Havent tested a restore yet but it’s worked
perfectly so far.

Anyone using backup exec 2010 r2 with VMWare agent?

Are you backing up esxi versions?

If so what are your feelings?
